ABOUT

I’m Steven W. Schouten, an Audio Engineer, Music Producer, and DIY enthusiast based in Gadigal/Sydney, Australia. Since 2014, I’ve been immersed in the music scene, releasing work under projects like Montes Jura (RIP) and my solo project, Misty Lanes. I’ve also played in several bands, including PEEL, Phonographics, Salerymen, Eagle Ray, and Lorelei.

After earning my Audio Engineering degree in 2017, I spent three years teaching at JMC Academy, where I had the privilege of inspiring future Audio Engineers while continually expanding my own knowledge and skills.

Throughout this journey, I’ve built a robust collection of knowledge and gear while developing my reputation for helping emerging bands realize their creative and sonic visions.

In 2023, I partnered with renowned Audio Engineer Owen Penglis, known for his work as Straight Arrows, to create a collaborative studio space. Our studio has become a go-to destination for recording a wide range of genres, from DIY punk to shoegaze.
